WHY IS MY LAWN BROWN ?
After a tremendous spring growing season, we turned the calendar page to June.
June could best be characterized as hot and dry. Temperatures were above normal and
even exceeded 100 degrees several days. Rainfall was well below normal and many
areas saw less than one inch for the month.
Needless to say, our lawns are looking stressed. Most of the damage is due to drought
stress. Many of these brown areas will recover when we receive more substantial
rainfall, most certainly by the fall season.
The stressed turf is now more susceptible to being affected by disease, namely Brown
Patch fungus.
It is important to know whether we are dealing with drought stress or disease. Please
do not hesitate to call us to visit your lawn and help determine the cause for browning.
